Admissions

Thank you for you interest in applying for a place for your child at our school.

Here you will find everything that you need to apply to the school:

Nursery admissions for academic year 2025.26

The Local Authority leads the coordination of Nursery Admissions for all schools in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets including own admission schools like us.

To apply for a Nursery place at our school, you first need to complete the On Line form with the borough. You can access the form and guidance here: https://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/lgnl/education_and_learning/schools/school_admissions/nursery_school_admissions.aspx

You must have submitted your application by 14th February 2025 for a place in September 2025.

In addition to the borough’s own on line process, to apply to our school you are also required to complete our school Application Form and to submit that to the school office by the same date.

With your application to our school, you may need to provide:

  • Professional evidence of a disability and/or exceptional medical, pastoral, special educational or social need (attached to the Nursery Application form)

  • A reference from your church on the school's Nursery Supplementary form.

Provision of this additional information will ensure that the school has the necessary information to apply the Oversubscription Criteria listed in our policy (see below).

All of the necessary forms are available here with a copy of the school's policy. The forms must be returned to the School Office by the stipulated date.

Opportunity to find out more about the school

It is vitally important that you have the opportunity to visit the school, before you choose to apply for a place in either Nursery or Reception for your child. We are providing two opportunities for this to happen this year:

An Introduction to St. Luke's meeting, applicable for both Nursery and Reception, where we tell you all about our school and specifically what the Early Years provision is like.

The dates for the meetings for families considering a place from September 2024 are stated below. We strongly encourage you to bring your child with you the meeting, as children will often instinctively know where they will feel happiest attending school, when they are included in those visits.

If you have recently arrived into the borough and you are looking for a place in the 2024.25 academic year, then please do not hesitate in getting in touch through the school office and we will do our best to arrange a time to meet with you.

Offers of places at our school will be made by London Borough of Tower Hamlets. In the Summer term, we will write to all families who have been offered a place and we will invite you to attend a 'Welcome and Information' session to help you to prepare for your child to start with us in September.

Introduction to St Lukes Early Years Meetings

These meetings will be lead by the Headteacher/ or Deputy Headteacher and Early Years Team.

Please note: You only need to attend one of the meetings. Each date and time are a repeat.

You do not need to book to attend one of the meetings

Tuesday 19th November 2024 8:00am

Wednesday 27th November 2024 4:00pm

Wednesday 11th December 2024 5:00pm

In year admissions

St. Luke's has all In Year Admissions coordinated by Pupil Services in the Local Authority - London Borough of Tower Hamlets. If you have recently arrived into the country or you are looking to move from an existing school, at any other time apart from the start of Nursery or Reception, whether that is midway through the academic year or as your child is moving from one year group to another, please contact the Local Authority Admissions team in Pupil Services. Further information can be accessed here:

https://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/lgnl/education_and_learning/schools/school_admissions/in-year_admissions.aspx

We use the same Admissions Policy and Supplementary form as for Reception admissions.

Here you can access the Supplementary Form.

And here is the policy for this academic year.

For both Nursery and Reception admissions, please come and visit us to inform your decision making.

We look forward to meeting you soon.
