St Luke’s welcomed Rukshana Aktar from The Feast for a series of interfaith workshops with our Year 5 and 6 pupils. Staff and students made a wonderful impression, wonderfully reflecting our HEART values and our school vision of 'Hearts overflowing with truth and love'.
The workshops focused on three key learning objectives:
Respect and understanding for people of different faiths and beliefs
Celebrating similarities and differences between major world religions
Developing skills for open, respectful conversations about religion and belief
Our pupils reflected thoughtfully on their learning. Some of their takeaways included:
“I learnt about different religious symbols and what they’re called.”
“Diwali is celebrated by both Hindus and Sikhs.”
“Menorah is a Hebrew word that means lampstand used in Judaism.”
“It is important to learn about other faiths so we can be kind to each other.”
“We are all different, but we can all still be friends.”
“To be successful, you need to be respectful.”
We are delighted that the children found the sessions both fun and meaningful. The Feast expressed their thanks for the warm welcome and look forward to working with St Luke’s again in the future
