Last January, Mr Griffiths attended a training event at Westminster with teachers from across the UK designed to help encourage children to take a greater interest in politics and democracy. Since then we have run training sessions for staff from our school and other schools within the Isle of Dogs, provided more books about democracy in classrooms, celebrated Parliament Week with a whole class assembly and also set up the Isle Of Dogs Pupil Parliament. The Pupil Parliament saw school councils from 7 schools meet up to discuss issues relevant to the Isle of Dogs. We hope our school council continues to go from strength to strength in our work with others schools after receiving this award.
